A man walking to and from work has repeatedly been stopped by cops looking for a killer who has been known to be hiding around the woods in the area. He said he has been stopped more than 20 times by officers and on one occasion was kneed in the back and pushed to the ground and held at gun point. He had to go to the doctors to get his ribs looked. Apparently he had started wearing his drivers license and work id around his neck before he was attacked by this officer.
If this is true then I think the justice system needs to apologize and do what they can to help out this guy. The article said that he hadn't filed a complaint so they didn't know anything about it. If 20 different officers had stopped him though you would think that they would know something. It shouldn't be that difficult to stop this from happening multiple times. The first couple are understandable, but more than 20 times is too many. How can situations like this be prevented in the future?
I think the police need a better description of their criminals if this is the case. I mean, yes people can look similar to others, but like you said 20 times is just to many. I don't think they had enough information on their suspect to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI believe the police were right to stop him. Better safe than sorry. However, the excessive and unnecessary use of force should be addressed somehow. Maybe just ask for his ID instead of pointing a gun at him and then asking him for his ID. In situations where two people look a lot alike, there is not much the police force can do. Another solution would be to carry around a photo of the killer, and them compare the two faces, height, and weight description.
ReplyDeleteI think that the police officers should not have treated him like that in the first place. No matter what we don't beat people just to get information. The police officers should have just asked to see his I.D.
