December Caps a Strong Year for Jobs, but Wages Dip

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/10/business/economy/jobs-unemployment-figures-december.html?_r=0

I think that everybody has been focused on all of the negative aspects of our economy right now including myself.  This is why I was  a little surprised when I saw some of the data.  The U.S. added 252,000 jobs in December.  Over the past couple of years there has been a steady increase of jobs and the rate has continued to rise.

I couldn't get the graphs to work, but you can see them on the article.

The unemployment rate has fallen from 8 to 5.6% in the last 2 years.  I think that this could be a good sign that we are on the right track.

The article also talked about how the wages also fell in December.  I think this is a problem that should be considered when we are creating new jobs at these rates.

  1. Somewhere I heard that the unemployment rate was falling, but I didn't think much about it. Now see the actual statistics I agree that we are doing much better. As for the falling wages to me it is just another indication that the minimum wage should be increased.
